Student mobility for traineeship – outgoing students holding the education and qualification degree “Bachelor”, “ Master” and the education and science degree “ Doctor”

General information about the program

The Erasmus + program provides opportunities for students, PhD students and recent graduates to realize a period of mobility with the purpose of traineeship in order to gain work experience in an enterprise or organization in another country participating in the Program. Mobility aims to help students adapt to the requirements of the labour market, to master specific skills and to improve the economic, social and cultural understanding of the country concerned in the context of the acquisition of practical experience.

Student mobility for traineeship is an internship / practice in an enterprise or other workplace abroad. To ensure a high quality of activities with maximum impact on students and PhD students, the practice must necessarily correspond to the field of knowledge (the specialty of the student / doctoral student).

The purpose of the mobility is to acquire specific practical skills in relation to their student's / doctoral program. Activities that fall within the scope of “mobility for studying” are not allowed.

The traineeship can be realized in the three levels of study (Bachelor, Master and Doctoral) of 2 to 12 months for each degree. Recent university graduates can participate in this type of mobility, but the application must be completed while the participants still have student rights and the practice is to be completed within one year of their graduation.

Students / PhD students whose student mobility for traineeship is a part of the curriculum receive full recognition of the mobility period based on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Recognition of mobility is based on the Learning Agreement of Traineeships, approved by all parties before the start of the mobility period. In cases where the traineeship is not part of the student's / PhD student's curriculum, IBS recognizes the mobility by entering it in the diploma application.

Duration of the mobility for practice

The minimum duration of the student mobility-for-practice period is 2 months, and the maximum duration is 12 months. The European Commission rule states that the total length of the mobility for studying and the mobility for traineeship cannot exceed 12 months for an education and qualification degree.

• Example: A student in a Bachelor's degree who has participated in a 6-month mobility-for- studying period can apply for mobility for traineeship for up to 6 months.

Where can practice be implemented?

Students / PhD students can practice Erasmus + in the following legitimate countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Cyprus, Spain, Italy, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary, Finland, France, The Netherlands, Croatia, Czech Republic, Sweden, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey, Macedonia.

An Erasmus + employer can be:

- a higher education institution awarded the Erasmus Charter;

- any public or private organization offering job opportunities, for example:

public or private small, medium or large enterprise (including social enterprises);
local, regional or national public institution;
social partner or other organization such as a Chamber of Commerce, a branch / professional organization and a trade union;
research institute;
foundation;
school, an institute, a training centre (at all levels, including vocational education and adult education);
non-governmental organization, an association;
institution for career development, career guidance and information services.

Important: mobility for traineeship is not allowed in: EU institutions or other EU bodies, incl. specialized agencies (an exhaustive list is available on the website ec.europa.eu/institutions/index_en.htm), diplomatic representations, organizations that run EU programs (e.g. National Agencies) in order to avoid conflicts of interest and / or double funding.

Financial support – Grant

What is Erasmus + student mobility grant? The Grant is a financial aid aimed at supporting additional mobility costs caused by differences in living expenses abroad. The grant is not a scholarship, it does not provide for full coverage of mobility costs and is calculated as a monthly rate. When signing a practice agreement, students / PhD students are entitled to a "student grant" to support them during the training period.

The Erasmus + grant is allotted according to the country where the traineeship will take place. It is fixed and cannot be reduced or enlarged. It is allocated for a real stay – the number of calendar days.

Host employers can offer remuneration, apart from the Erasmus + grant, at their discretion.

For the period of the traineeship the student / doctoral student is not exempt from the obligation to pay studying fees at the IBS.

What is "Zero grant" mobility or "Zero European funding"?

The "Zero grant" Erasmus students are eligible for mobility for traineeship. These are students who meet all the criteria and benefit from all the privileges of Erasmus students but do not receive an EU grant for mobility. The Program rules, with the exception of those related to the financial support, also apply to the "Zero grant" students.

Health insurance and insurance

You should have a European Health Insurance Card to ensure and facilitate access during mobility to free medical treatment in the host country when it is a EU or EEA member. The European Health Insurance Card does not cover specific medical interventions and the Erasmus student should be directed to contract additional insurance if such a need exists. The ISB has the right to monitor whether the student has done all the necessary insurance under the national law of the host country. The payment of the insurance is done with funds from the individual grant of the student.

What is Online Linguistic Support?

The Online Language Support Platform (OLS) is designed to help the Erasmus participants to improve their language proficiency in the host university before and during their stay abroad in order to increase the quality of the mobility for practice. Since the lack of language competence is a major obstacle for participants to take advantage of the student mobility, OLS makes language support accessible, flexible and easy.

• Before mobility: As an Erasmus student, you must definitely do the first test to assess your language competencies. The test results will not prevent you from carrying out the mobility but can be used by the IBS to identify the participants who most need linguistic support. Depending on the level of their language proficiency, the participants have the opportunity to take an online language course on the OLS platform before and during mobility. This condition should be further specified between the participant and the IBS.

• After mobility: You must do a second language test to assess the progress achieved during mobility.

• What happens to the results of the language tests: Only you and the IBS receive the results of the tests.
