IMPORTANT DATES IN THE HISTORY OF IBS

International Business School (IBS) is a specialized private  business school, accredited by the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency at the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Bulgaria with the right to issue diplomas for educational qualification degree “Bachelor” (BA) and “Master” (MBA) and educational and scientific degree ,,Doctor” (PhD) in the professional fields “Administration and Management”, “Economics” and “Tourism”.

The University started its activities in 1991 as the Bulgarian-Danish School of Commerce, Export and Marketing. In 2002 by decree of the National Assembly it was restructured into the International  Business School (IBS) – Botevgrad.

Today, students are trained in the two educational bases – in the town of. Sofia and. Botevgrad – in full-time, part-time and distance learning.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • September 1991

The “Bulgarian-Danish School of Trade, Export and Marketing” was opened with the status of a private vocational school with foreign participation;

  • 13 October 1993

Danish Ambassador Capel personally presents the diplomas to the first graduating class.

  • January 1997

The school was transformed into the Bulgarian-Danish College of Economics and Management – Botevgrad in the structure of the Economic Academy “Dimitar Tsenov” – Svishtov.

  • October 1997

The school acquires its own new building in the town. Botevgrad

  • 15 November 2000

The school is transformed into an independent private “College of Economics and Business Administration” – town of. Botevgrad.

  • 2002

By a decision of the 39th National Assembly, the college was accredited and transformed into a specialized private  business school called “International Business School” – Botevgrad.

  • 2002

In the town of Pravetz, a bachelor’s programme in business administration has been opened in cooperation with City University, Seattle.

  • 2004/2005

IBS, with the support of the Bulgarian government, launched a Bulgarian-Dutch tourism programme with Breda University, the Netherlands.

  • 2004

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) has been adopted and is in operation at IBS to facilitate the process of recognition and validation of qualifications and units of study and the process of student mobility.

  • 2005

IBS is a member of the GUIDE (Global Universities in Distance Education) global network.

  • 2012

The International Centre for Security Education and Research at the Graduate Business School has launched a joint module on the MSc Security Management programme with Ariel University, Israel.

  • 2017

The Centre for Distance Learning is opened in the town of. Sofia, which won the Building of the Year award in the category “Buildings – Education”.

  • in 2018

IBS has been awarded a World Innovation Award (#Turnitin Global Innovation Awards 2018) in the category of “Outstanding Performance in Academic Integrity” for introducing best practices for anti-plagiarism in e-learning.
